Provision Of Bus Stop Infrastructure on Boreen Keel in Navan, Co. Meath

This consultation is now closed. Please see update below.

Further to the completion of the non-statutory public consultation process, and in accordance with Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 and the associated Guidelines on Traffic Works Procedures (October 2023), Meath County Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 and Section 46 of the Public Transport Regulation Act 2009 (as amended), has decided to proceed with the proposed bus stop development works on a trial basis, subject to a minor modification to the Section 38 plans.

The proposed bus stop will operate on a trial basis as a set-down only bus stop for a period of up to 18 months, with a review to be undertaken after 12 months. This review is to include, amongst other considerations, monitoring of operational impacts (if any), pedestrian and traffic interactions, and traffic queue surveys on the Boreen Keel approach to the Brews Hill/Hospital junction.

Following the trial period, a decision will be made to extend, cancel, or establish the bus stop on a permanent basis, based on the findings of the review and subject to any further consultation and planning requirements.

A copy of the Section 38 Consultation Report can be accessed/downloaded under the “Materials” section of this web page.
